The following should answer those whose first questions are always:

    "What guitar/strings/amp/etc. are you/is he/she using?"

    @ ca. 4:05

Bukovac: Do that same shit, turn the amp off, turn the volume on the guitar down, see if it's coming acoustically through the guitar, yeah that same thing.

    [Trapp plays]

Beato: Yeah, there it is, right there.

    Bukovac: It's right there.

    Beato: It's in the hands.

    Bukovac: It's in the hands.

Beato: It's in the right hand.

Bukovac: From years of playing amazing acoustic.

I'm sure many of you have heard about the "10,000 hour rule"? Well those guys are products of the 100,000 hour rule. Both started playing very young, got good fast, and never stopped or slowed down.

Guthrie comes from more of a bluegrass background, but Tom was playing in classic rock bands in bars when he was 15.

They put in the time, no doubt.
Though putting in the time is necessary, if you're putting in time in the wrong way (perfecting bad habits, just noodling, or playing "the same sh*t, different day"), your results won't match these.
Guthrie is all about 'knowing chords, everywhere on the neck.' a big proponent of the CAGED approach.
