    Great guys!

Back in the 70's I though they were older. 5 or so years. Didn't know they were from LA.

    My favorite funk --

She could sing that to me all night long ... I'd be in heaven.

Another one, which I love for having flat-top involved ... and yeah, the lyrics are great, plus there's Byrdland goodness involved --

This was a bar-burner in a band I was in back in the 90s -- this would liven up the deadest bar, get asses moving:

  11. glad I found this thread. Has anyone mentioned chris bono's course? Just bought it and it's a really good course in funk guitar styles.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but if not..... CORY WONG

  13. Thanks for posting that Paul! He sounds great...

Another topic, has anyone discussed string setup/height relating to funk playing? Many of the rhythm guitar parts on funk play rely on super low action that is buzzing against the fretboard. If you are also playing solos with the same guitar, it can be a challenge to get a good sound for both funk and solo (lead playing). Of course, if you use heavy overdrive like gambale it doesn't matter so much.

Check out the rhythm guitar parts on this tune. Super low action and buzzing... rhythm starts at about :28

been jonesin on this track by james browns mainman -bobby byrd..track produced by jb..and you can hear him come in singin by the songs end...

love the flatwound thunk of repetitive guitar figure on right channel

funk is a sum of the parts...each part doesnt have to be too intricate, but its all gotta weave together...

all the great funksters did that...james brown, fela kuti, mulatu astatke, funky meters, etc etc

    cheers
