Wow, I'd never heard of this phenomena before. So, never store your guitar in it's case, especially for long periods? Perhaps keep it in a gig bag? Not sure if I understand this?
I'm gonna say I'm in the clear especially since I did test turning the truss rod and it felt normal. I'll just chalk all this up to me being picky and paranoid. Hopefully this info will be useful...
