I love hearing just an upright bass with one jazz guitar. Like this album:

Or the vibes and the guitar from an old and a younger master:

Of course the piano and guitar like

And so on... I love the simplicity of hearing jsut 2 instruments...

And i love the sound of the Bassoon, and so many more instruments that can both solo and accompany a guitar.

Please share duos you like, with more curious suprising instruments next to the jazz guitar!

Guitar and upright bass is my favorite duo. This particular pairing deserves our attention. John Stein and Dave Zinno.

For just bass and guitar, this is one of my favorites. The entire album is great.

Herb and Ray Brown were also great together, but a quick search didn't turn up a pure duo album, most have some other instruments. Soft Shoe is pretty great, but it's not entirely just bass and guitar.

Mike Rud and Sienna Dahlen. Guitar and voice, and the voice in this case is like a horn. One of my favourite types of line up.

I listen to alot of old big band, and Lionel Hampton ruined me on the vibes. I can't stand the way he vocalizes along with his playing. Super annoying. I know everyone doesn't do that, but it's ruined me for listening to them. They also make me think instantly of this:
