    If you want to hear real old time country the way it should be played and sung, Billy Strings new album with his father Terry Barber is a great way to go.

    It's not typically 16-notes-a-second like you usually hear from Billy, just some traditional and lesser-heard songs from the legends.

    I got teary-eyed listening to some of these songs, I'm not kidding. Beats 99% of what's called country music these days.

    True, but listening to it from the YT "video" above also suggested (to me) why flavoured pop passes for country these days: less need for the full experience package.

    I get that a lot less with bluegrass btw, and I'm not talking about fake cotton-eyed joes
