The old thread disappeared?! I wonder why.
Whatever, I will repeat 3 previous links,
1. Oh Susanna , my 1st attempt
2. When The Saints Go Marching In
3. Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep, in slow Afro , a slight diversion
And now, number 4:
Freight Train ( Elizabeth "Libba" Cotten, 1904(?))
fingerpicking, 1st version (abandoned)

Great seeing you continue to expand your horizons. I recently watched a video on Chet Baker and he really shows how musical this type of playing is. Rhythm and melody all in one. Sometimes, he even throws in a type of percussive drum thump for good measure.
You have some good tone going there with that guitar (and your fingers, of course).
Enjoy.

At some other places, I hear some people say that it is un-recognizable, nothing alike Smoke on the water, and so on. I have no problem with that. Obviously, it is not meant to be a cover. Anyway, for the sake of showing where the similarity is, here's the TAB of what I approximately play in intro, the 1st part of verse and 1st part of the chorus. Someone may even find it useful
BTW, in my recording, verse is made of 4 parts (like in original), chorus is extended to 6 parts, ie. 6 repeats of "Smoooooke on the waaater ..." (in the original, there 2 repeats).
