He has produced much more "outer space" music than the one you posted. And much more interesting IMO.

(Thanks to a friend and flat mate from way back for showing me Scott Walker's psychedelic stuff.)

Yeah, but not more jazz oriented.

No, it goes a little deeper than that. Here is one description of the song (which features a choir of baritones-very Russian sounding):
Interesting mid-20th century take on the Soviet situation. Being born shortly before the curtain fell I've never really experienced the Communist threat personally so a first-hand account and artistic expression of that time is invaluable to post-communist generations like myself. Clearly Brezhnev was viewed as some sort of Stalinist resurrector after the imperialism he perpetrated on the Dubcek government.

Sounds like he's being tortured with whips and ECT!
I liked the albums he made with Wally Stott/Angela Morley the best- "Scott1-4".
Wherever I go I'm being followed by WS/AM- I'm reading a bio of Peter Sellers, and WS did all the music for the Goon Show, then when he became she, AM did a lot of the work for John Williams on the Star Wars films and was very big in Hollywood.

Scott had Terry Smith as his Music Director and guitarist back in the Swingin' 60s, and as a gift, Scott produced Terry's album "Fallout" in 1967 with a big band for Phillips. Then Terry started the jazz-rock group "If" with Dick Morrissey.

Ah, the Walker brothers. In the mid-sixties I was in bar band that played cover tunes--mostly joints in Rockaway Beach in Queens, NY.

"The Sun Doesn't Shine...." was one of our stock tunes.

    Thanks for posting.
