I love this tune. I used to accompany a friend on clarinet on it before he passed away. The Duke Robillard version that the OP links to is really nice.
Here’s my attempt on solo guitar. I’ve been doing a lot more gardening than practicing lately, so it’s rough. I’ll try to work on finger mechanics and clean it up.
It's been awhile since i last logged in here, but there's a strange synchronicity in that i was just playing
'If I Had You' a couple of days ago, and here it is as this month's standard...
and so, off to the shed i will head, since there are still a few days left in the month!!!

Hopefully it will get a little better...

Modern triad pair E/G, symetrical diminished pattern over G7 or AbMaj7, really cool sound.
This is a semetrical pattern based on an E triad over a G triad using the diminished scale to introduce...
I'm not sure this is worth answering. rp has been here a long time and isn't a bad player. But all this is at the same time very basic yet is presented as extraordinarily complicated. It's not, like...
I don't think I've gone as weeks without touching my archtop, but I do have periods of mainly playing my strat and wondering why I bother with other guitars ... then I find myself in a room with...

How quickly you found the tone you are looking for on YouTube is irrelevant: because it's the tone YOU want to hear; how is anyone else supposed to know what YOU think is "round, warm, jazz tone"?

Apparently the parent company is called Crewes and they are still made for the Japanese domestic market under that name, instead of Vestax.
I just picked up a Vestax D’Angelico NY2-FH. I will do...
There is some analysis and an etude here which may be useful.
It refers to tenor sax key so in the text the chords are often described a whole tone up, but the etude has a concert version.
The...

I definitely shift this way, which I’m 99.9% certain it’s an artifact of all the classical I played.
Then again Holdsworth is not my wheelhouse … I’m out here transcribing Clifford Brown like a...
