Here's mine. As usual, I didn't know this one before. I wasn't going to post, but I listened to it today and I didn't hate it as much as I did last nite. And hopefully I'll continue with it during the month and improve.
Oh, that was better, sounds more thought-out. Familiarity with the tune helps, of course. No one's that good the first time. The blues sounds were good, suits the tune, I think.
Out of curiosity, what were the Garrison Fewell tips you were using, roughly? Not that I want to copy them or anything but for interest's sake.
It's one of the study threads in the Improvisation forum. It's to do with triads w/extensions to create lines. It's something I've been interested in for awhile now, but never found anything I seemed to "get". His book "A Melodic Approach" looked good and has really made sense to me so far.
I have built my lo-power Tweed Twin from a kit with upgraded Heyboer transformers. I run it with the 12AY preamp tubes as per Leo's original design and add a touch of reverb through either a Strymon...
That's the problem right there. Never mind Real book charts, how many versions have you listened to? And how many have the additional line? If hardly any, that's your answer. Because nobody uses it.

You can't determine how it sounds out in the audience from how it sounds to you playing on stage. If you adjust so it it sounds perfect to you on stage, the audience is likely being punished with...
Yes, the first recordings of many of those Carmichael compositions were released as instrumentals. If such instrumental recordings sold well, in order to increase royalties, lyrics would be added...
Thanks, Stan!
Unfortunately, this all came late in life. I actually started the project in 2007 but had to wait until 2016 for the first decent guitar micro-amps to be available in Europe. Today,...
