Matt, One of my students is a Rock/Blues keyboard player. I have been trying to teach him how to comp for a singer or a jazz lead instrument. The lesson will be VERY helpful for him. In particular, the voice-leading aspect of the lesson is excellent! Thank you very much.

Wow, what an immense lesson, thank you so much Matt. I've been digging through these for the last 30 minutes or so. So many great voicings, some sound pretty exotic. Imagine comping a long tune with many II-V-I-VI:s with all of these variations, that would be great

.......worthy of deep study. Many of the mysteries (to me at least) of chord substitution are revealed here. A lot of thinking need to unravel everything, but what's here seems to be VERY important.

PS How much is a large Stella Artois in Belgium these days?

Great lesson, interesting sounds and good progression from simple to not simple. I'll be working with these for a while.
My question: I just bought Band in a Box: how do I turn off everything except drums and bass, as you suggest?
It's a cool program, and has a huge number of features. Finding the one you want can be a chore.

Glad you dug the lesson, thanks for checking it out.

To mute an instrument in BIAB, just right click the instrument name, located at the top of the screen. Then when the box pops up, click mute. That should do it.

    Matt,

One of these days when I'm in the US on business, I'm going to make sure that the Mid-West is on the itinerary; if I can work that, you better expect a call from some random English guy for a lesson. It'll be me.

Thanks so much for what you do on here, you really are a huge help.
