Here's a version I recorded a couple of months ago:

Sweet! To be fair: a completely appropriate tempo for this tune.

Gah! I just realised I posted a video of Tenderly rather than Misty. For some reason I keep getting those two mixed up. Luckily, I also recorded a version of Misty a few weeks ago:

That’s actually a long time standing joke in my band. I once called Misty, played a long and serious chorded intro to it, and (for reasons I’ll never know) went into Tenderly. At least once a gig, either the bassist or the drummer (and sometimes both in unison) call out “Let’s play Misty!!!”

Come to think of it, they didn’t do this Thursday night. Maybe the barrage has ended……

That's funny! Glad to learn I'm not the only one .

I woke up with this running through my head this morning. So I tried it after breakfast. The backing track is my fingerstyle comp w/ bass on my Tele7 over a sampled drum track. The lead is my Eastman 810 CE7 direct into my DAI. [EDIT: I added a bit of reverb to the file at 3:10 PM today, May 21]

Ah, the venerable Misty. If everyone takes a chorus, we finish the tune sometime the next day.

    I might spare y'all and do a B and last A

Gotta love your cockeyed optimism (I was thinking it would take till more like next Thursday)

That's known as "guitarist's choice" - review your options and take your pick.

Incidentally, I don't know if you've seen this from Wiki. Ha!

'Erroll Garner was inspired to write "Misty" on a flight from San Francisco to Chicago which passed through a thunderstorm. As the plane descended into O'Hare, Garner looked through the window to see a rainbow glowing through a haze and was moved to begin composing "Misty" on the spot, striking imaginary piano keys on his knees as he hummed the notes he imagined (causing his neighboring passenger to summon a flight attendant to assist the apparently ill Garner).'

Don't worry; I got it. But John Wayne is not a punster.

On second thoughts, this the only version I've ever done of this tune that I like. Back in 2019.

But I didn’t! I had no idea that you were quoting John Wayne - I thought you threw in the “Pilgrim” to sound like him (as many people do). And in my search, I learned another of his quotes that I will invoke here, namely…..

Never apologize, mister, it’s a sign of weakness!”

Otherwise, I’d apologize for my ignorance.

My first attempt at participating in this virtual jamming, mainly to work out how to do it. Not even sure how to post the soundcloud link properly - hope someone can advise. Edit: aah, looks like it worked

    Some details.

    • backing track generated by jjazzlab software.
    • recorded using Audacity under Linux, using desktop computer's audio input
    • guitar used: J&D Luthier AG10
    • amplifier: Nux Mighty Lite BT modelling amp

In Db. I think I like the format of 1 chorus of soloing and 1 chorus of the head for the virtual jam. It only took over 6 minutes. :P

I’ve never found improvising over this tune easy.
