Also, I don't know if this is the best homage ever, but it's got to be in the running. (Best homage ever? Hell, this is in the running for best "pop" song ever. Stevie Wonder > Beatles. Who wants to wrestle over it?)

    Wait for it...

Twiddles 'n all (hopefully no twaddle)

    wzpgsr -

Well, I suppose I'm just not a twiddly sort of person :-)

Um, not clear on the relevance of the Stevie Wonder. Good song and all that but... Were you entirely sober?

Nicely twiddled, John. No twaddle :-)

Listen to the chorus. The melody based on the melody from Song For My Father.

AAAGH! Sorry, wzpgsr. Homage, I get it. I looked up the lyrics but that wasn't it. And I wasn't listening to the melody that closely. My ignorance. Mind you, now I'll always see it

    From Wiki:

'The tune is in Eb minor, starting with a Latin piano intro. The opening melody is reminiscent of Horace Silver's "Song for My Father", over which Stevie engages in an English-speaking dialogue with a woman, trying to impress her with talk of worldliness of having been to "Iraq, Iran, Eurasia" before changing to Spanish, using the phrase "Todo 'stá bien chévere", which loosely translates as "Everything's really great," continuing with an attempt to impress the woman.'

So you weren't... I suppose it was a bit early for that :-)

    A very provocative backing track.
I thought you would turn on the distortion ala Santana at the end of the solo.
    Cool expression...towards rock articulation.

This is the track I used:

It's live players, so lots to work with in terms of dynamics, comping, and feel. If I have time I may do another with overdrive.

First time trying to play this song. My first take was a little fresher and bolder, I think, but unfortunately I'd plugged the wrong jack into the wrong socket so didn't record the backing track (iRealPro).

I just tried the same approach with the same backing track as the first take, using my laminated achtop (AF207) thru the Blu. It's amazing how this amp brings out the basic character of each of my guitars. The input stage(s) ahead of the direct out are amazingly transparent.

I did it and I failed it. Nothing is in tune, I lost the tone, bad feeling.
    I don't practice enough...
Unfortunately I feel more comfortable on the guitar and it's easier with distortion.
It was just a take, I did it because my wife wanted me to play it on the saxophones.

    Thanks.
I made it with Band in The Box.
Andy LaVerne is the author of rehamonized chord changes.
My version is a bit simplistic and more latin style.
