Hi,
Sorry if this interrupts the flow of the thread, but virtual jam? Can you expand on how that works?
Surely you can't all play live together over an Internet connection?

1. Make or find a backing track of some sort.
2. Play over it?
Or alternatively play a solo chord melody style version?

There's also this. Discogs are reputable, I've ordered from them in the past and they're fine. They also do Russian stuff (or used to before the unmentionable).

Discogs is fine, I’ve got several obscure things from them. But I don’t think anyone is selling that JVR CD there at present (I’m not entirely sure, but I think they keep the listing so people can put in a request for it).

Tricky tune, eventually got my fingers round it! I used the Aebersold track but I fired the pianist, I preferred the bass and drums sound.

Well done, Graham, that's how to do it! It was the start-stop aspect of it that put me off but you walked nicely through it. Time you were mentioned in dispatches, I think.

Thanks guys. I found it quite difficult at first to play good connected lines over the initial chords (i.e. D to B to Ab), I had to shed that quite a lot. Useful practice though, because I can see that sort of movement also occurs in the last section of Inner Urge (a tune I have only dabbled with, not tackled properly yet).

This tune can be a problem because it has an interesting chord changes.
All chords are known only differently compared to the so-called jazz standards.
I've found that playing long phrases makes it easier to beat this great tune.

I enjoyed this take much more, but truth be told I am not a fan of Bossa Nova so swing wins every time!

Still struggling a bit with this one, hope you dont mind the grunting lol

I tried playing this tune but realised my reading isn’t really up to it.
i think I’d have to learn it which kind of defeats the thread point, no?
