you can now stream every Aebersold

I got almost the complete works on a naughty 'CDROM' (in Addis Ababa of all places - years ago)

but the online version is searchable - makes it fab to use

(you can slow it down and speed it up - and you can change the key too. even better, you can get rid of the piano which is often a bit intrusive)

I find that some of them are just fantastic - and some feel pretty bad (even though they're professional and well done)

I stick to the one's that feel good

    highly recommended (since 1967 apparently)

    I think it's about 5 bucks a month, right?

I have many Aebersold play-alongs but you can't beat the convenience of having everything in one handy spot, not to mention (as you say) being able to speed up / slow down tracks and to change keys.

Funny about the sound. There was a period when they tried to seem more modern / contemporary and the those are the volumes that sound the most dated. When they went back to (mainly) acoustic bass, it all sounded so much better. ;o) The many organ trio volumes (a couple featuring Joey DeFrancesco) are especially worthwhile.

    that's just my experience

even the Parker CD has very electric sounding bass and it really feels bad

"Serpent's Tooth" is my favorite rhythm changes head (-that's not a tune Ella might sing, such as Cottontail or I Got Rhythm.)
