Would it be any different in chord melody than in, say, travis picking - why?

I like to palm-mute on top of the saddle as that gives the least risk of getting strings buzzing against your skin muting too aggressively (e.g. by your sleeve). I haven't played with a pick for a while but I think I'd do the same with one of those.

When playing chords on the top 4 strings (which I do A LOT when I chord solo à la Wes Montgomery), I usually will rest my right hand on the bridge to keep the low E and A strings from ringing out or feeding back.
