Hi! Are you familiar with down-down-up picking? You can get pretty nice things by using it I think.Down-down-up pickingDown-down-up picking

There's also a lot to explore in

    down,up,down
    down,up,up
    up,down,down
    up,down,up
    up,up,down
    down,down,down, and
    up,up,up

But I guess it would depend a bit on which notes you wanted to play, and on which strings.

I'm joking around a little. Down down up is a nice way to play ascending triplet-ish figures especially that involve some string skipping. I've enjoyed also trying to see what is possible/convenient with other combinations as well.

Yes. Do combinations all the time.

Brad Davis put "double-down up" picking on the map. (The first few minutes are a slow demo of the technique; then he shows what he can do with it.)

Al DiMeola often uses DDU or UUD depending on the string sets

I learnt these kind of pickings from Django's solo of Dark Eyes. In the part that starts around 1:15 he plays dimished style run with U-D-D-D picking.
