In May 2008 Bucky Pizzarelli came to Toronto to play at the Heliconian Club. After the gig he kindly agreed to give me a lesson the following morning at his hotel. Here's the first 15 minutes or so. The guitar is a mid-1940's L50 which we traded back and forth during the lesson. In this part we were working on straight acoustic rhythm. His message (repeated often): "Lighten up!"
I wanted to share this as a tribute to the memory of this charming and generous guitarist. Please ignore my flubs!
A belated thanks for this gem you shared with us. Bucky comes across as such a friendly and warm person, in addition to being the master we all know he was. You were lucky to have this opportunity of meeting him!
Hi
It sounds quite good, but nothing like a Princeton. Much more tweed like, and raunchy if you push it.
In my opinion you can do jazz with it, but more in the edge of break up style, like Grant...
Hmm… without never playing with it 7,2k pickup sounds more like brighter and less-bodied than ’mellow’. Based on mere numbers the normal ca. 8k Classics would have some mellowness and body.
But I...

I was just wondering, after all our exertions, whether you'd sorted out how you play the bridge of this tune. Whether you'd found your answer, so to speak. That was the point of the...
I agree with the above post: my idea is that for a full warm creamy smooth twin reverb tone you have to push it just a step before it breaks up; to me its right volume level is between 5 and 6.

When I'm playing my TM Twin in a small room, I'm dialing the "Attenuator" selector down to max. 45W, better 22W and the vol. around 4-5.
It sounds different to max. power selection and the vol....
Hey there,
I'm quite intrigued by the Supro Amulet. A little tube amp, lightweight, with a 2 band EQ, reverb, tremolo, attenuator. Available with a 10" or 12" Celestion Creamback speaker. On the...
Great to hear that that you are still there! And sorry that you have not been able to contribute to some of the Peerless and general Korean guitar topics of late.
I look forward to you being here...
I have them now. They're on an Ibanez prototype that I bought from JazzKritter's daughter and I plan on keeping that guitar well played and cherished as a part of my history (JazzKritter and I both...
I used to have the big Headrush board, and what I would do in such a situation (aside from having a fixed global EQ) is to have a master parametric EQ on one of the knobs. Many boards (including the...
Has anyone played or had a Supro Amulet ?
