In May 2008 Bucky Pizzarelli came to Toronto to play at the Heliconian Club. After the gig he kindly agreed to give me a lesson the following morning at his hotel. Here's the first 15 minutes or so. The guitar is a mid-1940's L50 which we traded back and forth during the lesson. In this part we were working on straight acoustic rhythm. His message (repeated often): "Lighten up!"
I wanted to share this as a tribute to the memory of this charming and generous guitarist. Please ignore my flubs!
A belated thanks for this gem you shared with us. Bucky comes across as such a friendly and warm person, in addition to being the master we all know he was. You were lucky to have this opportunity of meeting him!
Figured I'd post this here. This is my blonde '89 Emperor that I have modified to be more like a Harmony H-62/Espanada. Since it's a cross between an Emperor and an Espanada, I call it the Empanada...

Thanks for the suggestions!
Sorry, I meant Zephyr. Tired today and I did own a Triumph Regent years ago like the guy from Hot Club of Cowtown has. Gotta get my models right now that I own two...
You should see Ben harmonizing 4 moving voices on the fly, and reharmonizing it in 4 voices and melody on top in real time. It can be done if your harmonic concept is comprehensive. It helps to work...
Super cool ...
... one small point. The arpeggios in the main riff seem to be min7 off the thirds of the dominant chords in the blues form. You might want to lower those fifths. In context, the...
I would say go with a Gibson pickup. The 57 Classic is simply a superb archtop humbucker. If you want to try something with a P90 angle, the humbucker sized Gibson P94 is also a really nice pickup. ...
That's a Zephyr Regent in your 6th picture, not a Triumph Regent. I think any of the usual suspects will work well in the Emperor : Gibson 57 Classic, Gibson Burst Bucker, SD 59, SD Seth Lover,...
