I'd be called Eddie Van Halen and had a great life playing in a susseful rocknroll band.

I too would cry. Then try really hard to find a guitar with a neck pickup.
-
I had one, yes that is the original Hello Kitty. The neck was excellent, clubby with pink dots, perfect frets, The body was same profile as a Strat except thinner, the whole guitar was maybe 4 lbs. This was a good sounding guitar.
I mentioned it to someone at the local mom and pop guitar store and they immediately wanted to buy it (apparently they are highly sought by the ironically serious heavy metal thrashers, no doubt in part because of the very fine neck quality - they replace the pickups with expensive ones). It was an offer I couldn't refuse.

(Just joking!) I usually only use the neck pickup (at least for jazz) but if bridge-pickup guitars were the only ones available (for whatever reasons) I would still play them. Afterall I do love Allan Holdsworth, who generally prefers the bridge pickup. Perhaps chords would then sound a little "icy", i guess... so, maybe, I would be pushed to playing really interesting ones... (?)

I own one of these and <gasp> a Soldano amplifier as well. I think we are allowed to like and play other styles of music, but I always forget to check with the gatekeeper on the current set of rules.

I actually had a bridge pickup only guitar, and I ended up putting on a floating pickup. Replaced the tone control with three way switch.
When I bought it I thought I would be able to turn the treble all the way down on the bridge pickup and it would sound ok, but it really didn't.
