    Omph,
The one on the left is a 2005. The one on the right is a 2002. They are VERY different guitars.
The 05 is heavier with a thicker top. It feels like a Bentley Continental GT on your lap. It plays the best out of all my guitars. It never feels clunky. It is just nimble enough. It’s an electric archtop.
The 02 is lighter but not light. It has a thinner neck (but not thin). These 2 factors together give the impression that the guitar is more acoustic. It feels like a Porsche Panamera Turbo on your lap. But electrically, it has a wider gamut of sound. In fact, the bass is deeper electrically. Obviously the same pickup. Exactly the same height. I should adjust the pickup height on the bass side a little lower, but I don’t want all my babies sounding the same. The neck takes extremely low action but it’s not as clean and balanced as the 05.
I like the slightly more yellow burst of the 02. In fact, it looks a lot newer than the 05. It spent the past 18 years in its case, in a safe in Santa Cruz. Can you imagine living in Santa Cruz and not being allowed to leave your bedroom? Now it lives in New Jersey and it begs me to never put it back in a case ever again. It hasn’t been in its case since I bought it, nearly 6 months ago. The 02 is the one I play most. And I play it acoustically, alot of that time. Same for the Natural. 50/50 playing time, acoustic and electric.

Bro, that Cherry Burst is my favorite color ever, surpassing the Viceroy Brown. The color reminds me of Marco’s Heritage DA New Yorker, which is also a spectacular guitar.
    Those are L5’s, perfected..

Had a friend (you guys know him) over for lunch and tunes today. We played a double round of blonde vs burst.

Speaking of which, if you're in the Bay, here are some shows to check out this week!

Hey, I know that guy! Also lucky enough to own his old L-12. Are you playing any of those shows with him?

I came so close to buying that blonde L-5 on the left from Eric but already had the same year sunburst.
that and since I'm not playing much acoustic these days I passed, probably for the best, I'm sure he plays it all the time.

I'm not playing at any of these shows.

His L5 is great and has become Jonathan's main guitar so I'm sure he's grateful that it was passed up. Funny enough I also got my blonde L5 from Eric just late last year. Mine's a postwar. They both sound awesome.
