Burst or Blonde L5 preferences are similar to Ginger vs Maryanne choices.
Everyone has a favorite...(And some fortunate members here have both!!)
I'm admittedly shallow and have no problem stating my preference. Blonde (aka Natural) finish for me.
Oh wait, maybe a nice SunBurst would be sweet.
No, I like how the Blonde ages into a mellow, light honey shade.
On the other hand, those Burst finishes also sweeten over time, giving them a classic hue that only a perfectly sprayed Sunburst has.
Whatever one's choice, the best scenario it to simply OWN an L5, something I may never achieve.
In the meantime we can still enjoy threads such as this one. Lusting after the L5 porn from the lucky owners on TJGF has to satisfy me for now.
Can I have both of these?

who cares about guitar color
Ginger was a redhead and I'm picking her, I mean Elvis couldn't be wrong could he?
you guys can have your little farm girl from Kansas
where's the poll?

Ginger or Maryann?
My answer is still both.

I was wondering how long it would take for some horny Boomers to make a blonde v brunette analogy.

The natural and the far left burst. The sunburst on that LH one is “warmer” including the more subtle edge binding.

The smaller ones.

I really dig black L-5’s but you must keep them super clean. Fingerprints really show up. I would love a black S400 too.

Thought I knew a few things about the L-5 fan until now. First the green one and now this one. Never have seen a black L-5 before. Sure makes the gold stand out. Wonder how many other colors I haven’t seen?!
Speaking of gold, my ‘52 tuning keys look different. I wonder if there is anyone that could re-plate my tailpiece?

Wow what a choice you lucky basket. I've always preferred blonds. But that sunburst . . .

No worries! I didn’t see it as a challenge. I just saw it as aesthetics query. We are all different and see things differently. I didn’t think of it as a “fit” thing but can see how others might. I just turned 75 and my 17” L-5 C feels just fine to me still. But…I can see how that fit thing could be a factor for others.
The best thing about this post for me was seeing so many examples of the Wes model. He’s my favorite player and that set-up with a single pickup, is the optimum arrangement….in my view. I’m sure others think differently.

Speaking of Wes….3-weeks ago he would have turned 100! 6 March 1923….
