I want to upgrade the stock tuners on my Ibanez AS73 but don’t want to have to drill new holes. Any suggestions? I would prefer locking tuners. Thanks!

Not locking, but Gotoh 510. A direct replacement.

Thanks for the input. I’m also wondering if locking tuners are a necessity for jazz, what with no bends to place strings out of alignment, though making strings easier to change is a big advantage.

IMHO, locking tuners aren't necessary for anything. Just wrap the string around the post properly and it won't slip. In 44 years of playing guitar, I have never felt it even remotely necessary to have locking tuners. Plus, the extra weight of the things tends to make guitars neck heavy.

I had an Ibanez AS73. Tuners worked great
Now upgrading the pickups paid big dividends.

What pickups did you go with and did replace the pots as well?

Gotoh 510's would look amazing on your AS73.

Here's what they look like on the upscale JSM100...

    Those look great.

I got some Hipshot locking tuners for a flattop guitar I have. Very well made and functional, and look very nice to boot. Not too bulky compared to some locking tuners, and no drilling of new holes. Mine actually look very similar to the Gotohs.
