Hi guys,
Yeah, this is one I (stupidly) was trying to sell.
I decided against selling because I’ve done enough dumb things in my life. No need to add another.
This is a great guitar. It has a long history here, Patrick noticed it in the hold rack during one of his trips out to Kalamazoo and asked what was up with it. One of the owners said they made it for a recording artist, who couldn’t pay for it. He told them, now it’s spoken for..
Shortly after his passing I made one of many trips to Patrick’s house to help demonstrate/recommend/pack some of his guitars. It was then I noticed the off center stinger. I mistakenly mentioned it and it then became the reason this guitar was the last one to sell.
I’ll spare you all of the other stories about this guitar and I just say I’m proud to have it. It will be my pal for years to come.
I added a Gibson TunOmatic bridge, new tuners and Pearl tuner buttons to it. Recently I put a heavy Mylar laminate over the ebony pickguard because the grain of the wood interfered with my picking.
Here are some pictures and a Video (naaa really?) so you can see/hear it.
I hope you like..

You have made a wise decision, Joe
The stories alone are priceless. Well done Sir, well done! :encouragementp

That guitar is exactly where it should be.
And should remain.

Nicely done all around.
Can you tell us about those wall-mount cases? Link? Thank you.

Joe, I love the sound of that Golden Eagle! I have no idea why my beloved '03 GE doesn't sound like that. Maybe it's the hands and talent of the master guitarist playing yours.
Glad you came to your senses and held onto that amazing Heritage. It is exactly where it belongs.
May you continue to make beautiful music on that amazing instrument.

Joe is so damn clever. Now everybody on this thread wants that gorgeous guitar three time$$$ as much.
(Just kidding. I'm with SS on this one. Where it should be. Cheers. )

Beautiful decision. What's a stinger?
-
The is as cosmic as a Shakespearian play. There's the attraction, the tension and distraction, the near loss, and the coming together. There's a passion between a man and his guitar, at least for the lucky.
Being as objective as I can be, this guitar is world class. Anyone disagreement is within the realm of idiosyncratic opinion.
The slightly eccentric stinger is a beauty mark that will always identify the guitar to the owner. It's like an alluring smile with all its complexities.

In 1965, I sold an Epiphone Casino that was two years old. Sunburst, two black P90s, and the optional Tremotone. I was 17. I still regret that move.

JD, I may be late to the party, but that doesn’t mean I couldn’t be extremely happy to read that you’ve come to your senses! What’s a “stinger” sound like? Exactly! It’s only a cosmetic blem, that in some way could be interpreted actually enhances the appearance of the guitar. Actually, it’s not the only Heritage guitar with that attribute. But there’s none I’ve seen that sound like that guitar! And thanks for keeping the greatest’s name alive. There will only ever be one Wes. He was a gentle soul, with soul in his playing. Enjoy!!!

Beautiful message 2b.
I’m glad you revived the thread. I am happy the way it turned out. Last night I tried the clear nail polish trick on the wire retainer on the TunOmatic. It amazes me how much more of the guitar you actually hear when you quiet the noises some of the components make.
The Golden Eagle is my pal for the long haul.
And yes Wes was the class of the organization. I heard him interviewed a couple of times. He was like the sweetest mega-talent in the music business. Taken way too soon.
I’m glad we still have George.
Thanks buddy. JD
Has anyone played or had a Supro Amulet ?
