Great! No more discussions about tonewoods, strings, pickups and sunken tops…

Looks like somebody took one of those video games, Rock Guitar?, and heated and bent the neck.

To quote Miles Davis when asked about the electric trumpet. “What’s your keyboard player’s name?”

Why would you want to protect that thing from damage?

Since we're on the subject, it's surprised that the Star Trek universe with its pull-out-of-nothing interfaces hasn't yet come up with a playable air-guitar. (Probably not moralising enough? )

Cool, a new instrument, wish they didnt pretend it to be a guitar though

Indeed, the term "demie molle" comes to mind (seeing the left image)

Granted, it's butt-ugly, but I'd be interested in seeing some actual playing. The demo video is clearly overdubbed.

If it can actually track without substantial delay, that would be great.

The article doesn't say anything about MIDI out. I suspect that means you are stuck with their phone app, which is a serious limitation, kind of signalling to me that this is a novelty more than a serious instrument.

It'll be interesting to see whether this goes somewhere...

    EDIT
Conspicuously missing: price and availability info...

Oh Joy let’s make it so you don’t have to actually work so hard to be a musician any longer! Maybe you can even download pre recorded loops?

    Nope.

Well if there’s enough money in it, they will sell it! Sad commentary on human behavior. Remember Pat Martino died broke, and Kenny Burrell even needs welfare!

    How incredibly sad is that?

So... It's a keyboard, shaped like a melted guitar. Dali would like it.

    Not my cup of tea.

Looks like a cross between then HVAC "heat pump" unit under the window in my office and a seat cushion.
Sound like an April Fool's joke... only it's not.
But isn't it solving a problem nobody's complained about?

Credit though for thinking outside a square.

Years ago I actually was having nightmares sometimes of my Gibson neck becoming that... I would be playing and the neck would curve!

It's not, evidently. A guitar is a chordophone with plucked or pinched strings (and some other characteristics that set it apart from e.g. mandolins) and IMHO a resonance box that acts as an air-pump driven by a top that is in turn driven by the strings... A guitar-inspired instrument without strings is by definition something else.

My classical guitar teacher detested the electric guitar. He said "Call it anything but a guitar, maybe string-o-phone."

Depends on if yours is curved or not.
