This arrived today from Forum member Sam Sherry.
    Love it.
Hadn't played an acoustic in decades but I love the size and feel of this.

This is recorded with an iPhone. It doesn't do justice to the guitar. I'll mic it up and record something in Reaper soon.

In case the lyrics didn't come out clearly enough.

    If You're Like Me
    Words & Music by MarkRhodes

If you're like me, you don'twanna work at all.
Play guitar, write songs, watch a little football.
Read old books, take longwalks in the local park.
God help me if I have todrive after dark.

    I didn't see it coming
I'll hate to see it go.

But if this is my lastday---that's okay
How did I measure up? Who's to say?
You want some famous lastwords, I'll quote my bride:
“Honey, put some pants on'fore you go outside.”

If you're like me, you getcalled a bum a lot
And told you really don'tdeserve any good thing you got
“You're indifferent, lazy, you just stumble along
When life kicks your ass,you just write another song.”

    I didn't see it coming
I'll hate to see it go.

But if this is my lastday---that's okay
How did I measure up? Who's to say?
You want some famous lastwords, I'll quote my bride:
“Honey, put some pants on'fore you go outside.”

When I was a boy, I knewthat I could fly
I didn't need a plane, or areason why.
I was swirled up tinglinginto a moonlit sky
And I'm still, I'm still,I'm still enjoying that ride.

    I didn't see it coming
I'll hate to see it go

But if this is my lastday---that's okay.
How did I measure up? Who's to say?
You want some famous lastwords, I'll quote my bride
“Honey, put some pants on'fore you go outside.”

If you're like me, that'sall you got to say.

I have an Eastman E20OM. It’s a pretty sweet sounding acoustic. It’s taken me to another dimension

I've really like every Eastman flat top I've played. Even better than their archtops.

HNGD! Nice song, and great sounding guitar! Eastman makes great acoustic guitars. I have an Eastman E8OM (solid sitka spruce top, and solid rosewood back and sides). That thing has as much bass as a dreadnought, but with the added bonus of more top end, and note clarity. Oh, and I love its 1 3/4" wide, and decently chunky neck. It's my #1 6-string acoustic (I have 3 of them - I also have a Yamaha 12-string that is my church band guitar), and isn't going anywhere.

    Thank you, Ellen.
    That's a lovely guitar.

It's a pleasant jolt to be playing an acoustic after so long---the dynamic range is great. Really sounds alive.

Play it long and well, and thanks for making it easy.

Sam, that’s exactly what I thought.
I love it when people are happy to get what they get.
Mark I must say, your enthusiasm is a breath of fresh air. That’s the real essence of this place.
I enjoyed that. And I wish you years of happiness with it.
By the way, it sounds very smooth on the iPhone recording. It sounds like you should play something by America on it. Maybe Tin Man???
    Thanks Mark.

Thanks, JD. I heard "Sister Golden Hair" over the weekend and thought of your comment. America did some songs I liked way back then. "Tin Man" was one. ("Horse With No Name" was one of those things every kid I knew who played guitar felt they had to play.)

Now that I have an acoustic, I've told my wife I'll have to serenade her. I could play some of my own songs but they are not things with which she has long been familiar, and that's part of the charm of a serenade. So I'll have to learn some acoustic songs. Refresh my Dylan repertoire.
