Hi there
Just received my new amp. Custom. build based on an AB763 Twin Reverb, here's the Swing Reverb !
Here what i had in mind when i contacted the builder.
MODS - Differences with original AB763 Twin :
50W instead of 85W ( 2*6L6s instead of 4 tubes )
Tremolo deleted ( i have no use of it, so let's. save weight and cost ! )
Normal channel revoiced. Mostly following RobRob's lead channel mod, to have a gainier option/pedal platform channel
Effects loop
4, 8 and 16 ohms output
Line out ( in order to directly record or send signal to PA )
Reverb ( based on Tone King's amps circuit, a lovely reverb ! ) active for both channels.
3 way switch to select Negative Feedback ( Regular, Less or More )
A "punch" switch to emulate a tube rectifier
Master volume ( PPIMV )
Now let's see the parts used :
Preamp Tube : NOS Mullard Heerlen
Power Tubes : JJ's 6L6GC
Sozo Blue condensators
Xicon resistors
F&T capacitors
Bourns HRT pots
Hammond Transfos
MOD reverb tank
And some pictures !
I'm using this amp with a 2*12 cab loaded with WGS G12C/S. Clean sounds are amazing. I can have a great sound with my archtop for jazz, but also can play funk, soul and blues ! One thing I really love is the high amount of dynamic in this amp.
Custom channel is a great pedal platform for overdrives too.
Take care !

Specs sound great and it looks great too! Congratulations! I never used tremolo either but funny enough lately I use it more and more... (but now I have a pedal on my board for it.)
Too bad you haven’t posted any pics of the guts inside, ‘cause that’s where the real amp magic happens.... ;-)

Awesome! Just... Awesome! There are few things that warm the cockles of my heart more than a hand-wired tube amp.* Congratulations, and play it in good health!
* Not making any claims about quality of sound or whatever. It's the Platonic ideal I have in mind.

Thanks all for the messages, i will try to record sound clips. I don't have a mic, but i'm thinking about using the line out direct to my DAW. Anyone has some speaker simulation plug in to reccomend ?

I paid this amp the same price as a brand new Twin Reverb in Europe. I could have save some € by not choosing components such as NOS tube, Sozo capas... This plays in favor of ordering amp from a tech instead of buying an industrial one. Also hand-wired is easier to repair than PCB and your money goes to a local tech instead of a big company. The choice seemed logical for me !

That looks like an awesome amp! Congratulations.
Based on the specs, it seems very close to my 45 watt Heritage Liberty amp. It was designed by Paul Cochrane, who wanted an updated take on the old tweed bassman or tweed twin amps. Like your amp, it has reverb and a negative feedback control, plus it is tube rectified. If your amp sounds anything like the Liberty, then you're going to really enjoy it!!
Here's a shot:

Looks like a great amp !
Heritage should be in the tweed side and my build is from the Blackface side. "Custom" channel with more midrange is a bit tweedish.

Sounds good!
I mean, I love the name of the amp!
And the specs too. Not to mention that WGS G12C/S is phenomenal speaker with Blackface circuit amps.
Congrats and play it in good health!

Bump with updated pictures for this beauty to be seen !
I'll do my best to record some soundclips this week end or next week. Anyone has some IR to emulate guitar cab to reccomend me ? I plan to use the direct out to my DAW ( Logic Pro )
( Yes, volume pots are on 10 I think that the PPIMV Master Volume is the best mod in this amp )

Looks very cool. Can't wait to hear those clips!
Can you elaborate a bit on the diff between Custom and Vintage channels?
Also what's the little switch next to Middle? Scooped mids vs some other mids? change the center freq of the mid control?

About differences, custom channel is voiced following the Lead Channel mod by Rob Robinette ( https://robrobinette.com/AB763_Modif...ad_Channel_Mod ) This channel has a bit more gain than regular Normal channel. Bit less bass too. It's very great to use with stomboxes, a great pedal platform.
Vintage channel is true to AB63 Vibrato channel's specs ( except the lack of tremolo and the Tone King's reverb circuit )
Little switch next to middle is a Raw switch, also inspired by RobRob's page. It bypass the EQ section. Blackface EQ are a lot scooped in the middle. Activating this switch is like having bass and treble on 11 and mid on 15 . Very "raw" sound as the name suggest. Not much tweakable by definition, but it's really fun and enjoyable to play some Rock things. I added this mod because it's really easy to do so ( few components ) and I wanted to try it, even tho i'm not going to use it often i guess.
