    New case day.

I needed two cases for a couple of Heritage ghost built Gretsch Synchromatics. I don't believe these two guitar ever saw the inside of a case before. They are NOS.

It turned out to be a bit challenging to find cases. These guitars will fit in a Super 400 case. I tried find a new Super 400 case under $500. Even the used ones are scarce.

I did find someone on eBay who had new cases that have been in his shop for some time. He's from Quebec. The first of two arrived today. They seem fine.

    It's a slow day. Thought I'd share.

The Synchromatic Eldorado, which is a Heritage Super Eagle with a few twists, has a body that's 3 1/8" deep and 20 7/8" long. The Super Eagle is 3 3/8" deep and 21 3/4" long. I'll need a little padding.

Here are some pics of what looks like one of the first Heritage-Gretsch Eldorados. I found an old post with the story.NCD: Super 400 type-img_0002-jpgNCD: Super 400 type-img_0006-jpgNCD: Super 400 type-img_0003-jpgNCD: Super 400 type-img_0008-jpg

Oh you got it? It amazes me just how many different arch top finds you make all from various parts of the globe.

My Heritage Gretsch was in a Natural finish, which is why I didn’t keep it. The neck was a bit thicker, but aside from the Gretsch appointments you knew the guitar was essentially a Super Eagle. Beautiful guitar! I look forward to your NGD!

That sunburst was member hotfordcoupe’s guitar?

Those tkl cases are standard pro line Gretsch fare. Only difference is the stock ones have a tiny gretsch badge affixed on them.

My 90s mij g400 came with an odd, neither hard nor soft grey case with a blue interior. It's neat, but probably doesn't offer the same protection as one of those.

I won't get my shipment for weeks I'm guessing. I don’t know who owns the sunburst above. It was on a Gretsch site, posted by someone called Rayban.

There was one on eBay a few years ago, I hemmed and hawed too long, maybe three hours, and it sold. It was stunning in every aspect.

    My case arrives today.
The auction items are on display in the Juliens showroom until Tuesday April 6, I opted for overnight shipping on my guitar- we’ll see if it gets it expedited because of that. Mine was Earlier in the auction

I await arrival of the guitars. Meanwhile I put my thinline Super 400 into the case that just arrived. It fits.

I haven't read any complaints about the Gretsch headstock yet!!!

Speaking of headstock it seems I recall the nearest tuners being a little close. Doable but close. The headstock? Oh my.

I don't get Gretsch's naming. What do Electromatic and Synchromatic mean really? I forgive naming models with numbers. That's common.

    I did a little research.

the suffix -matic comes from matos in Greek, that means "willing or desiring to [perform]".

Synchromatic could then mean desiring accompany or perhaps form chords.

Good job Mark. Each of these wonderful guitars deserves a case of its own!

Hey BIG! That’s identical to the Synchomatic I previously owned. Congratulations, it’s beautiful!

Mother nature did an excellent job on those woods. Those annular lines each tell a story about the life of the tree that year.

The heel is small and carefully made.

Is the depth 3" even or 3 1/8"? I gots to know.

Isn’t that the depth of an Artist Award? Funny, I don’t recall mine being any different in depth than the Super Kenny Burrell I also owned at the time, which was 3” in depth.

The auction listed the depth of 3 1/8". I took that with a grain of salt.

Well, if the body itself was the dimensions of a Super Eagle my question is why would Heritage vary the depth to a deeper guitar. It’s possible they did but not to my recollection.

Wow, I'm glad to see some more of those. You guys are going to have a good time with them. I've had one for about 10 years and I love it. A friend of mine who owns a music shop in Kentucky who sells Heritage Guitars told me my guitar was the best guitar he's ever seen come out of the "Gretsch" workshop. He was being sarcastic of course.

Mine is blonde with some pretty nice wood. I took off the stock pickguard and put on a repro D'A New Yorker pickguard with a 60s DeArmond Rhythm Chief. Congrats on NGD and NCD. (New Case Day).

The auction listed the dimensions, but these guys auction of a lot of different, probably Marilyn Monroe's panties and Bruce Jenner's jock strap. (BTW, Kaitlyn Jenner is considering running for Governor of California as a Republican against Newsom, but I digress Caitlyn Jenner Eyes California Governor Bid, Gavin Newsom Faces Recall – Deadline.) So I don't expect the auction workers to be precise. I have had a couple of Super Eagles that are 3 1/8" deep, and the Henry Johnson is that deep. So it's possible.
