Mark’s work ethic is impeccable. He doesn’t take vacations. He builds guitars and has his craft down to a exact science. He is 100% dedicated to his craft. If you own a L5 you should really treat yourself to a Campellone. You will be pleasantly surprised. He is a great player too.
Trust me all the years battling Gibson it is a blessing dealing with Mark.

It looks like I better get inline with my order soon. Two years is enough time to raise the funds.

I'm happy to say I'm officially on Marks wait list. So I now have two years to get my playing back to where it once was.

The strap knob above is the best place IMO. Like a Guild and doesn’t get in the way of your thumb. Also Mark puts a reinforcement block there on the inside of the rim. I have seen neck heels crack when mounted there. The flat side of the heel is out of the way but the top of the heel IMO gets in the way when playing up high.
Yes I know personal choice but rim mount or below the heel is my favorite. I usually never use a strap so I rarely get the second strap knob. A strap is a must for smaller guitars though. I like 17’s.

What could possibly be better. That flamey back with the burst is just remarkable.

I am new to this forum but wanted to add my voice to the general chorus of approval for Mark Campellone’s guitars. Attached (if I’ve done this right) are a couple of photos of the 16” Wine Red Special Mark built for me in 2018. It is by far the best made guitar I have ever owned and sounds better and better as time passes (which is more than can be said for my playing).

As others have mentioned, Mark is a pleasure to deal with. I first spoke to him in June 2018, and had my Special delivered (to the UK) by Christmas. I have now joined the queue for another guitar, but that won’t be before 2023! As least I’ll have plenty of time to watch others being built before deciding on specs....

WOW ! Something about wine and gold hardware.
It really looks classy. Beautiful guitar.

Obviously this forum is seeing the light with Mr.Campellone.
His wait time went from 4 months, then a year, now 2.
I don’t know if that is good or bad for our hero.
We are the same age and I think about retiring everyday.
Of course I believe he loves what he does and I just have a j-o-b.
I do know bent over carving tops all day is murder on your back.
Hopefully we can get a few more years from our archtop King.

If you are young a wise investment would be a couple Campellone’s. In 30 years they will be worth a fortune like a DAQ is now.

I too am a 1954 vintage, and retired a few years ago. I am comforted by the thought that the ‘Golden Period’ in violin making for Antonio Stradivari was between the ages of about 55 and 80, so Mark could have some years to go, if we are lucky!

Am I seeing things or did the vintage 17" SB standard in the batch pictured above just show up on Reverb with a dealer? I'm on the 2 year wait list but that may be close enough to what I'm hoping to get. Can't tell if it's a 3 or 2.25 depth from pics

Yes, it's the same guitar - 3" rim depth, 25" fingerboard scale, 1&3/4" nut - if that works for you, grab it!

Acousticmusic.org is one of the few Campellone dealers out there, along with The Music Emporium in Boston and a couple of others. They have been ordering and selling Campellones for years, usually 16" and 17" Standards w/one-piece necks. Here:

The finish, size and depth are just what I want. It's beautiful! I've got to say though I really love the appointments on the deluxe which I've been planning on ordering, and my current main guitar is a 25.5" with 1 11/16" which really works for me. Although the wait is torture, in a way it's also something to look forward to.

Thank you for that info. It is definitely tempting to jump to the front of the wait line and grab this one
