Yay! They should tap some of the old archtop builders to be a part of that company, some Westerly RI talent or likewise. Hope they continue to do well, and I hope they come to their senses and raise the quality of their low end guitars. I've worked on too many of those outsourced disasters to forgive them that stain on their reputation.

Seen a video with Andy Powers, Taylor chief luthier, showing off the archtop he built in college and played for years in local bands. So there is hope. I have zero interest in the T3 or T5 Taylor seems to think is an archtop.

Andy was making guitars before Taylor (of course), there must be a bunch of them floating around here in San Diego. I know of two players that have the APowers guitar, Peter Sprague 1st video go to 3:45 double neck and 11:05 nylon, Bob boss 2nd video:

I am not too familiar with most of their low-end flattop offerings, but I recently got a gently used 150e 12-string—I think MIM?—that is a great guitar and easily better than any other 12-string I tried less than $1000. Plays like butter (and stays in tune!) and for a 12-string that’s saying something.

By the way I’m all for employee-owned businesses. In the health-care profession that’s pretty much where I’ve worked my entire career.

Don’t know how this will work for their guitar business, but more power to ‘em.

Employee ownership is an interesting concept. It's not anarcho-socialist as the company is still privately owned. it's not anarcho-capitalist as the workers own the company which is although not inconsistent with capitalism, it's far from being a goal in that ideology.

    It's more like anarcho-pragmatist.

Seems like the literal definition of a corporation? “A group of people authorized to act as a single entity (legally a person) and recognized as such in law.”

The difference between this and a “traditional” corporation would be that there’s shared decision-making, not deferred to a CEO and/or private owner.

I imagine it’s what the Israelites had before they decided they wanted a king, and it’s been downhill ever since...
