Googled the Ibanez RG550 Genesis and realized that it's 8-900£

If that is your budget then the world is your oyster on the used market ... Patience of course is your enemy since fair priced stuff doesn't show up often. But you can get MIJ Prestige RG of sorts starting around 600* or one of those tele style FR something Ibanez' also from the prestige series

And even a JS1000 is well within your bounds and those are actually extremely great sounding axes ... They sound amazing clean tbh.

*My sense of the market is pre-covid .. prices might be slightly higher currently, but I expect them to drop again next year

im not sure how serious this is

Budget options that are strong contenders may threaten with actually being bought in a moment of weakness - less well known marques would be cool.

    Block colour finishes preferable

    Floyd Rose not mandatory

I like the no nonsense look of the Kramer Pacers and Ibanez RG550s.

    Enable my GAS pls.
Here ya go. Black, pointy, and the price is right!

No discussion possible, here's what yu NEED :
Strandberg Boden NT 6 Trem MN TT – Thomann UK

Talking seriously (not sure if this is OP first intention :-) )
Harley Benton (Thomann's brand) is cheap, but I don't know why they don't triple their price.

Right ... A budget like that didn't make any sense ...

Given you're in the UK, can't you pickup a Chapman ML something something Tele style double humbucker thing used .. Despite your lack of love for Rob

I mean, they're Tele's they're Metal ... and they're 400 quid new, so you can maybe find one for 200?

Not sure what's available in your neck of the woods, but keep an eye out for a Schecter. Lots of options in various price tags and there should be a buttload on the used market. Always a winner. I've had good luck with the brand.

Would consider an esp LTD here, too.

I have a Charvel Telecaster (Model 5 or 7.. not sure) from back in the day. It has a reverse, pointed headstock. It's a good sounding guitar. It has a great neck. Finish work is quite good. Makes me feel old.

We still have to craft our guitars from old fireplaces and motorcycle spare parts

    Oh wait, Thomann delivers.

At least until Brexit, and then we will need to craft guitars from oaken heirlooms once more like in the good old days. I read it in the Guardian.

    In seriousness, Schecter looks good!

I love Rob, I’m just not entirely sure why. Chapman guitars have nice necks.

The Strandberg is NOT pointy. It’s a sawn off Rorschach ink blot.

In the 1980s we had two shapes, the triangle and oblong.

I could be totally serious for HB prices. That RG knock off is sub £200 and looks good.

My favorite guitar store was offended when I complained they had no mirror for 'trying on' guitars.

You are stumbling down a dangerous path, sir.

    Spandex recovery twelve-step group ahead.

    Buy it and enjoy it!

I say go big or go home. Here's my go-to for big hair music. Unfortunately, the spandex tights are a bit of a problem these days.
