After waiting days and weeks for pickup delivery (codiv+ Christmas = mail nightmares); the electrification of my 1937 L50 is now achieved!
I will pick it up tomorrow at my luthier's shop, but i wanted to share with you a first picture of my new lover..it is so beautiful (sorry for that "no musical comment").
    Cheers
    Julien

That is a floater? No hole in the top? That is fantastic!
I have gone both ways. Floater for my L7, but cut a hole in the L50.

    Bonsoir Julien,

That's a beauty for sure. Congrats. Is the floater from Pete Biltoft?

    Best to you.

    Hi ,
Yes it is a floater made by Pete Biltoft from vintage vibe guitars and Jerome Casanova installed it here in Paris (with new pickguard and some set up job also). I Should get thé guitar this afternoon and will share my feedback later.Gibson L50 to ES-150 Versus ES-175 CC

Although you’ll never get a real CC sound out of a floating CC PU, I think Pete Biltoft is probably the best in this world for getting close to it.

    Best.
    Hi Fred,
mind if I ask you're advice , as you've been around the block
with this stuff ! and I respect your views

have you tried a Pete Biltoft CC in a Humbucker mount ever ?
I'd be putting it in a HB neck position on a laminated Ibanez jazz box AF81

I want to get a 'doink' sound similar to Barney's sound ....

or I'm I kidding myself that it would get that type of 'doink' sound
(sorry it's difficult to describe sounds !)

or honestly should I just save up for a Gibson ES 125
and put a Biltoft CC in that

thanks man , love your playing

    Hey Pingu,

I see what you're talking about as Barney is my heroe, along with Jimmy Raney. Yes, I've tried such a mic' by Pete Biltoft. Actually, it is mounted on my '46 ES-300 and you can hear it here

The tone is fater than Barney's but I'm sure I could get closer if I'd add more trebles.

Other than that a P90 trustful to Gibson's original would do the job.

    Hope this helps.

Do you have a guitar that she made? I've heard very good things about her manouche jazz guitars.
