A quick preview before I have to go out and do some yard work.....feels like spring in the Northeast!

I saw this online and did a little research on the builder. He apprenticed with Tom Ribbecke and seems to have a real passion and small following for his work. He has a website if others want to check out. The price was very good, so I figured I'd take a chance as I wanted to try an acoustic with a floater.

Here are some specs I got straight from Mr. Odashima:
    Dear Darren,

Thank you for email me about that guitar.
Yes, I made that guitar definitely.

    This is specifications

    serial number: 074
    Date: 2019
    Top: European Spruce
    Side&Back: European maple
    Neck: Hard maple
    Fingerboard: Ebony
    Bridge&saddle: African Black Wood
    Tailpiece: African Black Wood
    Pickup: Kent Armstrong PAF O
    Tuner: Wavery
    Finished: Shellac

    Fun!

Briefly: I suck, so take that into account. I play with my thumb so everything is a bit mellow on everything I play. I will try some with pick later.
Anyway, the acoustic is nice and warm. The strings are those black coated strings I've never played before, so they add to a mellow warm sound i think. Plugged in it sounds super duper to me! Very dynamic and responsive. I've not had any experience with these type of guitars (thin topped, light, acoustic with floater).

Here is a quote from owner regarding string choice:.

"That black nylon string is string I chose. Because that guitar concept was solo. It's like a "Virtuoso" Joe Pass."

Flats on an acoustic archtop? Heresy!

I have to say I'm kind of digging the black wound strings. Neat feel. Sound is good thru the amp. I imagine the acoustic sound would be better with the Bebops or regular round wound.

if there's a pickup and a volume control it's an electric!! haha

even pure nickel flats would project more than nylon covered...plus interact better with pup

    cheers

I'm like the guy who plays golf and can't break 100, but has the finest sets of clubs!

I swore when I decided to start playing again I wouldn't become "one of those guys". So many folks on the golf forum know WAY more than I do about equipment and are not very good players. Well, everyone is having fun and not hurting anybody, so cest la vie!

Way cool guitar. No cut-away! I love it!! That way I don't have to remember which is florentine and which is venice-tine.

I think I saw that one and did some research as I had never heard of the builder. Very impressive.

    I LOVE Japanese guitars.

If I had the funds, I would have snagged it.

It's very nice and seems like a very, very quality build. I feel very lucky to have snagged it. I think it was an unbelievable price. Anyway, I hope to do it justice in the future.
