    Hello,

At the moment, I play roundwound strings, 011, plain 3rd, but considering flats.

I was wondering if there's a difference between the plain roundwound trebles
    and the flatwound trebles.

To put it in another way: will changing from rounds to flats change the tone of the trebles?
I should think not as they are all plain.

    greetings,

    Stefaan

Plain unwound strings are the same, regardless of whether the wound strings are round or flatwound.

Flat unwound strings would cut your fingers to shreds.

all plain/unwound strings are basically the same...from any string company..some kind of carbon/swedish/german steel core with a very thin top plating...usually tin..but can also be brass, gold or silver...the ultra thin plating doesn't really affect tone...but may resist corrosion better with different body chemistries

    cheers

Ok thanks everyone, for the moment I'll stick to RW.
Having used the D'addario 011 pure nickel, I'll try now the Thomastik bebop 012.

    greetings,

    Stefaan
