Referring to these ebony knobs they put on the EX SS. Maybe I have used Ibanez SureGrips for too many years, but I find the ebony knobs way too slippery.

Anyone has replaced them? With what?

he’s from Spain, it can be slippery, his command of English is terrific. Very good.
Suregrips, a couple of Ibanez loyalists - love it fellas. The look won’t be the same but if you do a lot of volume swells or other knob associated tricks it’s gotta be suregrips !!

Thanks for the input. I did it today. Admitted, the ebony knobs look kind of cooler but with the Ibanez I have regained control. I could always change back if I wanted but for the moment....

Here's a fix on the cheap... Maybe the Ibanez no slip knobs are a better idea :-)

I see the sense in it... you replaced the switch and now a rubber band does the friction .... step by step ... slowly working towards an ideal EX SS together ... hahaha

PS. replacing the overly loud switch with a smoother one will be the next thing I'll do.

Suregrips make a significant different to control - it's one of the things I love on my 1980 AS200 .... together with the super 58 pickups, velve-tune tuners, neck..... a simple idea but makes a big difference !

Sorry for hijacking your post, but if anyone of you are interested in selling these knobs, I gladly take them off your hand.

It's somewhat impossible to find them anywhere online

I have one of the older EX-DC's that came with knurled metal knobs with mother-of-toilet-seat dome inserts. They have no mark or indicator of any kind and there's no way to tell what position they're in. I found this kind of annoying and replaced them with amber colored "speed" knobs and replaced the washers with pointers. I think this also looks better (I've always preferred speed knobs to other styles, though this is the only time I've ever gone so far as to replace knobs). I like the look of those ebony knobs, but knowing now that they're slippery, that's another rabbit hole avoided.

I had a similar problem which I fixed by getting some rubber o-rings from the plumbing section of my local hardware store.
Easy, cheap and elegant. You'd never know they were there unless you were standing close and looking carefully.
