    Thanks Vinny.

Looks like I got the only non-cut, all acoustic in the bunch !

Fine with me - and then some.

You made a extremely wise buy trust me. I have 3 L5's. I can only play them for about 10 minutes then I must put them back in the case and grab my Campy.Campellone's latest batch-fa8451a2-c70b-4224-82e9-18f92de80ef0-jpgCampellone's latest batch-9a155a04-316f-41a6-a20c-7f373b3cce64-jpgCampellone's latest batch-73c0b1db-30ed-4b74-8a12-2d35cd1c305b-jpgCampellone's latest batch-1e24b323-88bc-461d-9622-9f9a08356477-jpgCampellone's latest batch-c246add4-876d-4b7d-be87-5dc3553c2afc-jpg

The single ply binding was the right choice IMO with that beautiful bubble maple. Multi ply would detract the beauty. You don't want bling with wood like that. The wood says it all. Total WOW factor.

Wow this one is quite appealing. That could satisfy my desire for a Wesmo for sure.

Thanks for the bib alert - scrolling through the pics, I do indeed need the bib action bad.

The L5 Wesmo was my favorite guitar until I got my Campellone.
It is a L5 on steroids with flawless build quality.
I wish I jumped on the Campy Train 20 years ago.

Last night I watched a couple the videos about the Scott Chinery Blue Guitars.
Man he seemed like such a really nice guy. Its sad that he passed away so young.
Anyway, I purposely watched the videos so I could catch a glimpse of some of the guitar makers I might be familiar with. Of course, the Benedetto was unique and prominent but one Guitar jumped into my eyeballs. It was the Campellone. And the reason?
    The Tailpiece.
There is no more exquisitely done Tailpiece than the Campellone tailpiece. Rather than over-gaudifying (not a real word I made it up) his build, Mark just made a Campellone. The TAILPIECE was to me, the best and most outstanding attribute of all the guitars. And its the one he puts on his "Special" guitars.
Just like the best perfume is sometimes no perfume at all, the Campellone Tailpiece is absolutely perfect.
    To me anyway..

Joe I played that Blue Campy personally and I can tell you that was a fine guitar. You are spot on the fact that Mark simply made a Campellone guitar with the only specs as being wanting and 18 inch guitar and the blue finish. I remember Bill Hollenbeck telling me when Chinery contacted him about building the guitar for the collection, Scot wanted Bill to build his best 18 inch guitar. In other words his top REGULAR model guitar not some over-gaudifying piece of artwork and pearl. He also wanted the blue finish and he did request the neck to be wider I believe at 1 13/16. By his best guitar Scot was also looking for acoustic sound he wanted the guitar to sound the best acoustically not thinking of the electric sound as such.

I believe Campellone did exactly like Bill and let me tell you..........................a Killer Campy was made. I still say that when the chips fall in who knows how many years, Mark Campellone's guitars will be with the D'a and GIbson Super 400's as a standard. My reasoning is that Mark builds guitars for players so he is generally not building a one-off jewel to be put in a vault or hung on the wall as a work of visual art. Mark is very fair about his prices and they are affordable in general to pro's and hobby players. The other over-riding piece of the puzzle is Mark is just a regular fellow who is very nice and easy to deal with. To me that is exactly the situation when someone went to John Dangelico to order a guitar.

In my book at the moment the best archtop for the money in the boutique guitar world is a Campellone. In fact I don't think of them as being boutique guitars, Mark is a know quantity with a long string of success his work stands on it own. If you ever get a chance to play a Campellone, play one even if you do not plan to buy one. If you ever run into the Blue Campy play it because that is a smoking guitar. I wonder where they are now. I sure would like to get Hollenbeck's blue one he made for the collection if they would part with it.

Those tailpieces are far easier to string than a L5 tailpiece also. The production of the new Campellone V1K model starts this week and yes it will have the "Special" tailpiece.

after jimmy D...it can be argued that benedetto, monteleone and campellone have been the big 3 luthiers of that ilk...not to take away from the rest...but...
