What brand and gauge do you use for the electric L5 version?
!!!!!No other guitars, just L5 Ces ,Wes,Ct!!!!So please be on topic.
If you have another model please don’t vote.
Specify your string gauge, or if you are using other brands.

thomastik benson flats, 14s. I recently tried changing it up a bit with thomastic swing 13s then John Pearse rounds but have circled back round to the thomastik benson flats. They just seem to make my L5 Wesmo sound its "best"...to me.

I have two L-5's (WESMO and a CES). I used to use TI Swing 13's, but a couple of years ago I switched to TI Swing 12's due to finger discomfort. On the next string change I will be going to TI Swing 11's for the same reason. I am glad that there is a TI Swing 10 set, one day I may need them. So long as I am able to play, the L-5's ain't going anywhere!

sorry about the finger pain..what a drag...but glad you are willing to adapt/adapting....the thom js 10-44 are fine strings...they still can thunk...and with judicious use of guitar and amp controls can be made to sound wonderful...and with an altered lighter touch..(which is not necessarily a bad thing!)...good tones can be had

    luck

    cheers

ps. always liked the thom js 11's as well...close to the old classic (now gone) d'aquisto 11's that jim hall used!! but softer!

    Thanks Neatomic!

Getting old is a drag, but it sure beats the alternative!

what do you prefer, Wes or Ces?

Accidentally voted for "Thomasik BeBops". I actually use "Swings" 13s, on my WesMo.

When I first got the CES, she became my favorite, but now that I have had both for awhile and used both on many gigs, I have no preference. They are both amazing guitars,

Only a Gibson is good enough.

Well... that about says it all. Nice Vin.
I think my L5 Wes will have TI Jazz Swing 13’s.
I didn’t like 13’s until I put them on the Campellone. Now I wonder why I’ve been a sissy all these years..

strings? bah, who cares, look at the back of that thing! love the irregular figuring on the back.

since my old stash of D'Aquisto nickel plated rounds dried up [13-52 were my favorite gauge] lately I've just been going back and forth between D'Addario nickel plated 13-56rounds and their pure nickels, same gauge on my L-5s and Super 400s. Need to experiment some more though...

I use 12-14-18 Elixir single strings in combination with 30-40-50 D Addario chromes on my L5CT. A bit odd combination I do not like the wound 3rd

A pickup and a brace. The WESMO is brighter with a more acoustic tone. The CES is fatter and darker and has more tonal options.

TI Swings 13’s on my L5 CES. This guitar plays and sounds like nothing I’ve ever played before. These strings contribute to that.

Newtone signature set. Amazing strings, perfect for my L5 Ces.

any other strings experiment with the L5?

for ages i used regular TI Swing JS13 sets on my L5 CES, about a couple of years ago i started replacing the high e with a .014 Elixir, when the b starts sounding weak i also replace it with an Elixir string (.017).

d’addario ej21 are surprisingly good too.

vinnyv1k - that's just pornographically beautiful! Do you sit up at nite and just stare at it ? I would.

Cool thread. I may have to try the TI's on my CES. Currently using Chromes. But first, I'm having an ebony bridge made, instead of the TOM. I'll keep both.
