I ordered 150 EGG 1.5mm celluloid picks from Masaki Nishimura-san of Walkin Japan. I am not affiliated with Walkin or Westville Guitars in any manner except as a customer. Each pick is JPY60; the Rosenwinkel is JPY90 each and it is but the Teardrop L with Rosenwinkel graphics and a hole.

    Order them directly from Nishimura-san.

    NB Each grid is 1cmx1cm.

Few things in life so perfectly embody a Platonic Ideal as the classic teardrop guitar pick, IMHO. The "object-ness" level is off the charts.

Do these picks have a semi-gloss look like the old (pre 80s) Fender picks, or are they more matte in texture? They look slightly glossy in the photos, but it's hard to really tell.

I will give you an answer in a few more days as they are in the mail...I got one of each of the other sizes and 150 of the 1.5mm EGG aka Teardrop in these parts.

Right now, I would say that they are semi-glossy.

I have received the picks. They are semi-glossy with some texture, certainly not matt. Each one is beautifully made with clean edges, no leftover moulding flash, and each one even in size to the other. The tortoiseshell pattern is very very nice on all of them. Impressed.

I will certainly be getting more of different shapes.

NB The Rosenwinkel pick doesn't have a hole in it. It is a gold-filled dot.

Thank you. I will be ordering one lot of 50 1.2 mm egg shaped picks based on your review.

I think I’ve spent more time over the years testing picks than practicing...

Hey Jabs....how do I get through the Walkin - Westville site to order some of those picks. [They look just great]

However I couldn't find where on their page I could see the picks let alone make a purchase.

    Could you help?

I expect to receive 50 (actually 54, because Nishimura-san inadvertently quoted me more than the actual shipping cost, so he threw in 4 extra picks) 1.5 mm egg shaped Westville picks very shortly. I ordered the 1.5 mm by mistake, as 1.2 is the sweet spot for me.

Is anyone interested in these picks at my cost, $30 U.S., plus shipping from California? They will be completely untouched.

    Regards.
