Looks like a Japanese battle axe!

I ‘ ll raise you a Minarik
"Oh, those jazz guys are just making that stuff up!" - Homer

OMG! I would immediately write a suite dedicated to that axe.
Opus 13. 1: "Have You Met My Sweet Godzilla" in Eb melodic minor.
Opus 13. 2. "Godzilla by Starlight" in the very mode of Eb dim7
Opus 13. 3 "Godzilla Bless The Child" in D# melodic minor
Opus 13. 4 "Godzilla On My Mind" in F# Major
Opus 13. 5 "The Nearness Of Godzilla" in Gb Major

Minarik's are absolutely tasteless, but I kinda respect them for being so unabashedly uncool (and being very good at it.)

How about the custom guitars that Semie Moseley made for the members of the Strawberry Alarm Clock?
-
-
D'oh! I forgot the archtop constraint. I just went for fugly. How about, instead, this 1957 Wandre?
-
The Idol PA is fugly, but the Wandre is fcool!
-
Rad. Bad.
That said, TBH my primary objection is the wiggle stick.
Incorrigible, I guess.Best regards, k

None of these manufacturers need to worry about a Gibson patent infringement suit.

is this a hipster thing? when something is so ugly, that it becomes cool
-
-
Rather than a hipster thing, I think a Wandre is a peek into the mind of a creative artist of his time (1950s-60s): Antonio Vandre Pioli. The guitar was just another of his expressive mediums. Everything about his work is an unvarnished view of Pioli. Much like Dali, Picasso, Kandinsky, etc., his work is not for everyone.
-
Why worry about someone stealing your beautiful guitar?Ignorance is agony.
-
-
It looks like it'd be cumbersome to play without a strap.
That said, it looks REALLY cool as a piece of art or as a guitar. I bet Ornette would love for his guitarist to play that Wandre, just from a visual standpoint.
I wonder how it sounds...
