Could be, but looking at the way the bridge is supported it probably has a block of some size inside.

Bridge in Casino and ES-330 is mounted the same way, and those are completely hollow. With those instruments, the whole top is reinforced with a kerfed spruce liner that offers enough structural integrity for the bridge studs:

ASR70 could have a similar construction but also a more budget solution of a little block under the bridge between top and back.

What is the difference between the Ibanez AS53 and AS73?

I'm looking for a semi hollow guitar around 300ish dollars. Im wondering if the extra 100$ is worth investing for these ibanez guitars. Also, are there any other suggestion for semi hollows in this price range?

The only real differences are aesthetic.

My very honest advice is skip the Ibanez and get a Cort Source.
Take the extra $100, have a Seymour Duncan '59 put in the neck, and you'll be golden.

... or get a used (sunburst) Epiphone Dot... It is in a higher leauge.

I had an AS53, brand new, it was not a usable instrument in any way instead a toy. Neither its sound, tuners, neck, electronics. All the six tuners were practically unusable. I would not consider it even for a very first guitar to one's child, who are just about to start learning... I also had an Ibanez AM 93, which is of course a way better thing, still I sold it, because Epi Dot is way better in that style.

You can find a used AS-93 in that range. I'm pretty happy with mine. The main difference is the pickups, iirc. Tuners are fine, three-piece neck is solid. Only thing I'm thinking of changing is the neck pickup, which is kinda wooly no matter how I dial it in.

AS-73s are $250-300 used around here and are fairly common on Craigslist. AS-53s are less common. Epi semis are also relatively common on C-list too for varying prices. I like the AS-73; a friend has an AS-103 which is a really nice instrument. I've tried several Epis and they've been quite good, really easy to get a good jazz sound.

It's a good time to be shopping affordable semis-, that's for sure. There are a lot of really cool options on the market.

I can't say anything about the AS 53, I never had/try one of those.
I was in the search of a semihollow last year and tried many (Epiphone Es 339, dot, sheraton... hagstrom...and some Ibanez)... I finally decided for an Ibanez AS73fm.
My reasons were 1 I really liked the neck profile; 2 the weight was very light (IMO) 3 the body shape and construction was quite solid; 4 the woods species are very interesting nyatoh neck (mahogany alternative) and laurel fretboard (similar to rosewood)... 5 the acoustic sound of the guitar was very nice/clear/warm
I got the new ones (as73fm-gvg) with flame maple top, the linden back and sides looks kind of reddish (just aesthetics but it is pretty).
and the 6 reason I found the guitar was a good platform to get my own flavour, this can be a deal breaker if you are not into "do it yourself" I did all the wiring with quality parts (factory electronics are bad) and put a nice set of Alnico II humbuckers (golden age).
Now I have a nice semi hollow without breaking the bank... but I had to do some work to get it.
If you are not into wiring and changing parts then I recommend the as93... it comes with better humbuckers (alnico 5).
    best !
