I've been working with Eiichi Yamamoto and want to announce a new model based on their exrubato. It's the jack zucker standard. It's basically the seventy seven take on a 335. The customization for my preferences are pretty simple.
- Weight - I wanted a super light weight instrument because of my back issues so the instrument needed to weigh as close to 6.5lbs as possible. I basically wanted 339 weight in a 335 body. My prototype weighs 6.6lbs
- Neck Taper - I wanted a slimmer taper neck than the standard which I would consider a fat-back. The neck on my model feels a bit like the gibson 30/60 neck. Super comfortable and fat enough for great tone but not a boat neck.
- Balanced - I always felt that the 339 was just at the edge of being neck heavy. Some were worse than others. This guitar had to be perfectly balanced so that it did not neck dive. At 6.6lbs, it *IS* perfectly balanced.
I am battling a heavy-duty virus so it'll be a few days before I get some demos up but after playing the guitar for a few days, I'm extremely happy. Great jazz, blues, rock and fusion tones. Easily the best 335 guitar I've ever owned.
Not sure what the price will be yet. Contact Eiichieastmongo@gmail.com
for more information.
More detail in a few days when I'm feeling better.

Nice, Jack! I can't wait to hear some clips of it.
-
Wow man, beautiful instrument.
Congratulations!!!
-
What... no "JAZ" inlay on the 12th fret?!
-
Jack,
Hope you get to feeling better! That guitar looks pretty sweet! I know you know what makes one that way! Thanks for share!

SICK!
Now THAT is something I’d buy!
But c’mon, Jack. You gotta put block inlays on this thing!!
Oh...and dibs
-
[holding out for a giant dragon inlay]
-
looks like the price for these will be around $1850.
-
Wow! A 16" semi that weighs a bit over 6 pounds?
-
Nice going Jack.... I've been consistently impressed by the builders even if I am not drop dead crazy for the model - their build quality is remarkable

This is way cool!

Ah, but that is one beautiful guitar. Just the colors I was looking for when I had money and was trying to get this style of guitar.
You have obviously been very busy - Congtatulations of having a signature guitar and get over that virus so you can enjoy it.
-
Under 2k for a quality instrument made in Japan? Winner.

Looks like a winner , what's the block made of ?
(Balsa wood ochroma or a denser wood with holes maybe ?)

Nice! I've had a few Seventy Sevens and they were fantastic instruments, but I always wished they were available with a slightly less hefty neck.
-
I may sniff around and see about getting one perhaps with p90s....OOOOHHHHH
-
Pretty cool. Well done, Jack!
-
Congrats Jack.
..waiting for your sound demo of the new guitar.
Best

Re Seventy Seven, I’m very happy with my Albatross bought here last year.

Going through HOF reverb, quilter OD200 amp, 112HD cab.
Looking at the preview reminds me that I need to take the plastic off the pickup covers!

Sounds like your left hand likes it too...
Will be interesting to hear the full Review.
A hair slimmer neck that won't affect Tone
might be a cool $ option on any Model for some of us ...

I think a Thinline with the Neck PU right near Fingerboard might be really cool right after the 20th fret.
Mini Toggle series parallel single on neck PU and maybe your trick of instant series
when bridge is coil cut .
A Jazz Hawk Thinline - for recording- some subtleties might be lost on stage but Recording with Cab IRs - you hear everything - another reason I love your Reviews
Actually I would prefer a Neck and Middle (with a single coil sized humbucker in middle ) - no bridge but they will probably never do that one.
On Jazz Hawk Fat the Neck PU sounds great where it is ... but the Thinline might really benefit . Do you think so ?
Is your Exrubato unusually loud for a Semi Hollow unplugged ? As loud and full as the Sadowsky is unplugged ?
Thinking there might be benefits from the light weight on the JZ Exrubato ...?Last edited by Robertkoa; 01-12-2019 at 04:10 PM.

Thanks for your input - I actually spoke to Eiichi yesterday and will get some quotes and see what they will do etc.
But need to put them on a simple email.Last edited by Robertkoa; 01-13-2019 at 12:09 PM.

You must be very proud to have your own signature model. I would be. Nice going Jack.

Absolutely Jack. I’m glad I really got to know you.
Honestly, a 335 style guitar really is all the guitar that a player who plays multiple styles will ever need.

Jack you always had absolute monster chops but I have seen you turn from argumentative to a super nice guy full of great knowledge to share. Kudos to you Sir and may your signature model be a big success.
God bless and get well soon.

I like the tone, Jack. Has a nice hollowbody vocal quality to it. The fellows at Deviser 77 Guitars really knocked it out of the park. Are those the stock ALS-255 humbuckers or the Mojotone Clone 59s?
I wonder though: do 77 Guitars ensure that all JZ Sigs weigh in at 6.5 pounds, give or take 2 ounces?
You should test the Exrubato Jazz next.
-
I hear a lot of the 'acoustic' tone of the guitar in that clip...must be a really vibrant, resonant, semi-hollow. Cool.
-
@Mr B- Yeah- and he only has .010s on it.
Most say the Exrubato Jazz ( trapeze tailpiece ) has the fatter tone ..
I wonder if the lightweight center block on his Sig. Guitar is adding to the resonance rather than interfering like the Maple Center Block does on 335s ?

Another one
