I found myself lost down the rabbit-hole the other day looking for pics of Oscar Moore's CC equipped L5 (not an ES250) seen below:

I looked a gazillion (imperial gazillion, not a metric gazillion) pics of blonde L5s, ES250s and the like. Below are my two blonde 17 inchers....both from '57. I'd love to see a full thread of everyone else's blond 17" arch tops....new, old, traditional, unique. Show 'em if you've got 'em!

Oscar Moore - 1947 - trio band - blonde bombshells?

I think my 17'' Pilar #68 from 1948 could fit in. Made during the Berlin Blockade, all solid woods, handcarved. Ok, perhaps she would better fit to a D'Angelico Style A or B.

The first owner played it in 1949 with the Anglo-German actress and singer Lilian Harvey - who had been more famous in the 1930's Germany than Marlene Dietrich (until Lilian had to leave Nazi-Deutschland in 1939), trying to make a comeback. In the 50's he used it in the Botho Lucas Trio; later on, on many gigs. His son reported that his father kept on playing this favorite guitar in his last years when he had to dwell in the old people's home, thus still causing a good mood in the house.
This is what I call the real spirit of jazz - and no one should be allowed to take a fine archtop guitar with him/her into the grave (except the maker)!

Oh, that naked lady on the headstock hides the access to the truss rod and can be swung. Honi soit qui mal y pense...

I always thought that a guy like P.D.Q. Bach used it for one of his compositions, like his Erotica for Banned Instruments:

...and I could swear I recently saw the remains of that prototype (made from one stunning single piece of wood?) in the hands of a talented African musician and luthier near Kampala:

The unexamined life isn't worth a hill of beans.
    - Plato or Aristotle - or was it P.D.Q. Bach?

Yes, it was a gift from Hofner. Note the 24 frets.
I suppose, like PDQ Bach's piece, it is a mysterious band instrument to most people.

    Love the Pilar.
I've always been a fan of naked ladies who like to swing.

The first _serious_ jazz guitar I ever saw/played was the one that the owner of the music store in my hometown owned as his personal guitar. It was a late-30s blonde Gibson L-5 with a CC pickup. It looked just like Oscar Moore's guitar. The guitar looked, sounded, and played superbly. In fact, I'm not sure I've actually seen a guitar that topped it.

_Maybe_ my Unity is right in that ballpark:
