Whenever I see dumbass crazy looking shit like this, I think back to watching Mad Men when completely bewildered clients would ask "did....Don sign off on this"? Henry J. proves that there's no such thing as "a little crazy".

The green L5 would appeal to Grant Green if he was alive or maybe the guitarist for the U.S. Army jazz band.
If Gibson had any brains they would offer them in bourbon burst and they would fly off the shelves.
I won't be "green" with envy if one of you cats buy one. Great guitar, wrong colors.
Green just doesn't belong on guitars. On motorcycles it is considered bad luck right Marco.

They're pretty special with that rosewood board and will become even more special in the years to come. 25 pieces of each colour? It will not be easy to get one once they're sold out. The nickel tailpiece is gorgeous.
I'd take it over the solid formed any day!Last edited by Drifter; 07-19-2017 at 11:25 PM.

As appealing as Army issue green underwear.

All 50 should sell. Colors aside, the plainer L-5CES treatment is a fine idea. The "sound" should be there. As others have suggested, these guitars should do fine in the after-market.
In a preliminary way, and without benefit of an in-hand assessment, I'd have to say that the new "Studio" is an improvement over the old one.

But I've never claimed to understand the logic or apparent lack thereof in Gibson's marketing decisions

And my understanding of wood prices is that the difference in wood prices is not enough to make it worth making a guitar with less desirable woods
It would take just as much labor, but would probably require a significantly lower price to sell

I think the brass color is pretty classy looking. I'd play that in a heartbeat.
The green...well...

Normally green would probably be my last choice but I made peace with this one because I love the guitar. There may be other attractive shades of green, but that L-5 is not one of them IMO.
