Took me 6 years, and a decent buy, to finally sample an ES175. Couldn't resist a/b'ing against the Epi Prem '175.

I see why these are so popular. Small, comfortable, and tone exceeding their smaller size. It's deeper than a Super Eagle! I'm guessing the added depth really enhances their tone.

Time to get some extended playing time in.

    Yep,

hard to beat a 175. My 97 Blonde is one of my favorite guitars.

Congrats. You better keep this one!

I'm curious to know how it compares, in your opinion, to the Epi?

    2B,

You are forgiven for not coming over today, instead, choosing to be there when your blonde babe arrived. She is definitely better looking than me, so I understand completely. You already know that I've owned a Gibson 175 since 1972. She's definitely a prize, and I love everything about her. Welcome to the club! There is nothing that sounds like this guitar. I bought her after seeing Joe Pass played one, and I couldn't believe anyone could sound that great, so I though I'd give it a try. She's still here after all those years. You'll love it.

That looks very much like my 55th Anniversary Es-175, purchased in '06. I like it a whole lot. Congratulations, and play it in good health!

Congrats. I'm thinking (at least right now...) that a 175 might be my next goal. Am curious to see how it compares to the Epi version as the price difference is so striking.

I'll restring tomorrow and give another listen. The Gibson arrived with TI Swing 11's, which aren't my thing. I prefer TI 13's minimum. The Epi', with the heavier strings, won todays contest...got to level the playing field

Which epi is it specifically again? The premier? Year?

I use TI 13 flats on my 175's. They are the right string for that guitar.

Welcome to the 175 club 2bop, it's not exclusive but one worth joining. I bought a 1979 ES175 CC new in 1980, still playing it, love that guitar.

Yes, a 2015 Premier, setup by a pro. The guitar plays like a dream.

I owned a used '79 ES175 CC back in '94. I bought it from a local newspaper ad for $1200. What are those guitars worth now? I keep seeing "second" version listed by dealers for $3500. I sold too soon!
