I've been looking for information on this guitar, and it seems to be conflicting and confusing. Possibly that's because they quit making them 18 years ago? I've read where it has laminate construction in it- others say that the 500 is hand carved. Also, this first batch of Loars were apparently made in Korea instead of China- although I don't know if makes much difference anymore. The 500 is quite ornate, and it does present well . So I'm interested in a bit more facts on the LH500, and if anybody out there has one that they're playing.
There is another contender in my search and that's the Loar LH600. I've read plenty of reviews for it and it seems like- after the initial models- most of the problems with it were fixed. After this, it seems like many people really like it.
Whatever I get, I definitely want this guitar to stay acoustic.
With the LH500 still being a bit of a mystery, I wonder how it would compare to the LH 600 and 700?
I've come across two, with an LH600 being considerably cheaper, like $245, as opposed to a 500 that's listed. I know that nowadays the upper end Loars don't seem to go exactly for a song anymore
One thing I've got on my mind is I'm going to be selling some things that I don't use anymore, I'm trying to make my money go as far as it can. I'm not doing anything pro, but I'd still like something nice.
As I said in my previous post when I asked about a couple of vintage Epis, I started out with something more like a Loar in mind. I'm kind of coming back to that and getting a bit recentered.
Thanks for whatever you have to offer!
