Wow, sounds great -- phat and sweet. (You know how to play anyway.)

Are those Alumitones? And if so: Which ones?

Nice! I love them on my Tele, too. Now you got the fever, baby!!!

I love the combination of thunk and chime. And with EQ, they have an amazing tonal spectrum.

    Sorry, but which "Alumitone Humbucker"?

    Alumitone Humbucker:

    • Position: Neck, Bridge
    • Resistance: 3.4k
    • Peak frequency: 2343
    • Inductance: 1.4 henries

    Alumitone Fusion Jazz 251 Humbucker:
    Position
    Neck Bridge
    Resistance
    5.0K 6.1K
    Peak Frequency
    2343 Hz 1800 Hz
    Inductance
    1.4 1.78

And, just to be complete (this is the one the OP has at the bridge:
    Alumitone Deathbucker:
    • Position: Neck, Bridge

    • Resistance: 5.0k
    • Peak frequency: 2343
    • Inductance: 1.4 henries

From these specs, anyway, the Fusion Jazz 251 Neck and Deathbucker appear to be identical.
The plain Alumitone appears to be similar to the Fusion/Deathbucker but with a little more high end (lower resistance).

Thank you very much for the info. Is there a reason why you did not go with their 251 Jazz Alumitones?

^ I just realized that they are not easy to find on the website. I think I had found them via the website's search engine. Then I could not use a discount code because of PayPal problems and decided to wait until X-mas.

But now I think I will go after you in one of my three PAC 120S-s. You really sound great with the normal humbucker and the deathbucker.

Never underestimate a heavy metal pickup for straight ahead jazz. I have Häussels that were designed for heavy rock actually in another PAC 120s and everytime I take that guitar to a session someone asks what kind of guitar that is. So I tell them I bought it from a stoner rocker haha. (He had taken away the Yamaha logo.)

In the end the sounds comes from the imaginative power of a mind controlling the fingers but the Alumitones seem to make it easy to realize the sound you hear in your head.

These don’t work like traditional pickups, and I’ve never gotten an explanation of how they do work beyond the bland nonsense on the Lace website that’s simply quoted in every review I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if or how the standard parameters of pickup design and function apply to them, since they have much higher output than standard humbuckers with much lower coil resistance and inductance.

The coils in Alumitones have about 10% of the copper wire in traditional humbuckers, yet the resistance is about 50% of a PAF’s. The inductance of a Strat or Tele p’up is about 3H, and PAF style pickups have inductance of between 4 and 5H. But the Alumitone’s inductance is “only” 1.4H.

So it’s impossible to use the electrical specs to predict how Alumitones sound.
