They're not 'real' p90s in my Squier Tele Custom II - They're Duncan designed but they still buzz like a real one.

When I was into guitar I would route 2 neck pickups. I wired it so I could choose either one individually or roll one in series with the other. Sounded awesome.

I think you should go for it.
I dropped a humbucker sized P90 in the neck of my tele and love it. Mine was already routed from Fender to accept a HB...but if you want to drop a P90 and don't have any tools, all you'll need is:
- cheap trim router from harbor freight like $35
- pattern trim bit, maybe 1" depth? like $20 on amazon
- cheapo acrylic routing template $12 on amazon (stewmac ones are triple the cost for no reason)'
- some good double stick tape to hold the template in place
- new pick guard $10 on amazon
a digital caliper/micrometer helps to center things.
I just made a tele that is dual humbucker and had to route a new pickup slots and this approached worked very well for me.

Thanks Limehouse, but I’m not going to do that myself. I brought the guitar to a luthier who had some good ideas of his own. He will take a few weeks, since he is quite busy.

Building a new rig. All that's left is an FRFR...
