I’ve not seen one like this before. Any thoughts? Thank you!

They started to get sloppy looking in the 60s into the 70s but are sharp/more defined now.

Here’s one in abalone from my ‘73 L-5s. The inlay is still perfect.
I see so many inlays on high-end Gibsons from the ‘80s and later that have ugly lacquer cracks around the “Gibson” and the flowerpot.
Probably a manufacturing flaw, since it’s so common. Maybe something to do with the filler they used around the inlays.

Probably more likely the fact that they changed from Holly to fiberboard headstock overlays in the 70s
More recent examples might be from changes in the lacquer formula.

The definitive flower pot thread! Quite a roster here. Looks to me like Danny's '70 has the most in common with the OP's. No globe in the 'stem'.... if it is a flower pot that is.

I would love to have this LP, but I really don't need another LP in my collection.
Just a moment...

My 1951 1/2 looks a lot like the two 1953's shown here. There is a small gap between the bottom of the pot and the top of the base.
