I think playing it fingerstyle also fattens the tone. But Kris's touch is the key. Our sound is largely in our chops.

I doubt that the slightly different headstock would have any noticeable effect on tone.

Absolutely right! Everybody knows that finish color is the biggest determinant of tone.

That video was too short Kris! You started to unwind there at the end.
    But..... very nice.

Great tone and playing, Kris! I just pulled the trigger on this. I wonder how the surf green body and 70's headstock will affect the sound?

Surf green is a guarantee for a good sound (especially with some natural relic after a few years) in general but I prefer the sound of a pre-CBS headstock.

Furthermore, Rose Wood has always produced great tone. Her son Ronnie is a perfect example.

Running 12's and humbuckers through a quality solid state amp will get almost any Strat sounding great for jazz. I suspect that with your chops, you could run 10's and single coils and still get a pretty decent jazz sound out of that Strat. You probably would not like it as much though....

Great tone & phrasing! I attribute some of the tone to the rosewood FB!
Around 1982 in Davis CA, I saw a gentleman playing jazzy stuff on a strat through a Musicman & it sounded awesome!

Congratulations! I was about to write that Stratocaster are good for jazz, but on reflection really almost any guitar is good for jazz. If it's comfortable, fits you and inspires you to play, those are the most important things. In case anybody felt the need for any proof about the suitability of the Stratocaster for jazz, I offer the following which I have posted previously:
