Has Gibson, not Epiphone, ever made a Casino Coupe type guitar? In other words Hollow body and smaller than a 335(14 inch lower bout?)

Yes, there was the Gibson ES-390 about 10 years ago. I've seen versions with mini-humbuckers and P90s.

Isn’t the Gibson es-339 the same specs? A smaller version of the 335.

The ES-339 is a small semi-hollow with identical construction to the larger ES-335. The ES-390 is a small, fully hollow guitar, like a smaller ES-330. In that sense, it is like the Epiphone Casino Coupe, which itself is a smaller version of the Epiphone Casino.

Thanks, David. The 390 couldn't have been popular as it never stayed around long.

The 339 is not the same, it has a centre block like the 335.

I have the mini humbucker ES-390. I love it. Have no complaints and if this is the form factor that you want you might not find anything better. Very high build quality standard. They were undervalued for a while when I picked mine up.

Thanks, Lammie. The ES 390 must be as rare as hen's teeth. I look at several store's web sites and I have NEVER seen an ES 390. You see more L5s or ES 175s. (Sites such as guitarsn'jazz.com, etc)

I did own one of these ES390s. Really loved it. Easy to play, sounded great. And above all, it was perfect in controlling the feedback if you decided to use pedals. I sold it once I left the rock and blues band that I was in at the time.

It looks like the neck joins the body at the 16th or 18th fret. That's really nice for high fret access.
