Yeah, a classic. Dave Panichi, the guy that wouldn’t shave off his beard, taught at my school. I love the part where Dave says ‘ Well, I’d just appreciate being talked to like a human being’ and Buddy Rich says “ I try to talk to you like a human being but you keep talking back all the time’ That’s some funny shit!

As much as possible. Which is none, since it's impossible for me to smoke weed without inducing acid flashbacks. Yes, even 50+ years after my last bad trip! I did take a hit off a CBD pen about 8 years ago and didn't really feel much of anything.

I played with a guy for 10 years who toked all day. He was more than OK behind that. Beautiful guy and a great player in fact.

My 98 year old mother started growing it in with the raspberries to disguise it in about '70. She's been using regularly since then, though now she leans more towards a THC tincture she calls her honey. My guy smoked with mom a couple of times. They had a very nice time together. I always thought it was a light-hearted thing to do compared to some other stuff I've seen. I kinda wish I could do it.

Maybe it's time I picked up again... which would be easy to do since I'm in the weed store every few months to re-up mom's honey!

If you did, I'd say start with a micro-dose. I do 2.5 mg and I don't get high, just relaxed.

My experience was similar. A psychosis set in after a bad trip. Smoking just brought the feeling flooding back. We used to call it ‘paranoia’. The only way to get over that hump was to smoke an excessive amount, or add alcohol, which sometimes led to passing out. Could have done without those destructive years. Will never smoke, snort, pill-pop again. Still like a weekend drink or two.

I haven't smoked anything in at least 30 years. Used to smoke pot once in a while, never very much. With it now legal here and retail sales starting later this year, I might try an edible, but not sure. A few people have told me that it's a lot more potent than back in the day, so we'll see.

I hate alcohol. I’d prefer to smoke a joint anytime. I’ve seen many succumb to alcohol. In my 40 years of playing in bars and I can say with great confidence that alcohol is the ultimate destroyer. I’ve lived the hard life, I know what I’ve seen.

It’s funny. You can get a faster and longer lasting high via a tincture under your tongue. So why is this thread titled do you smoke weed? That’s very outdated. Sure there are those that still smoke but that’s senseless since one can make their own tincture’s without having to smoke it. Times have changed for former pot smokers. Technology has changed the ways in which to absorb pot. Just saying.

I couldn't agree more with this. I do drink lightly and enjoy nice beer in a social setting, but at home give me a spliff anyday. I know so many people who smoke regularly and have easy happy lives. Plus this may be a coincidence, but I swear all my weed smoking friends look younger than people of the same age who don't. People frequently think I'm in my 30s when I'm in my 40s. The weed smokers seem to have younger looking skin.

Every one i know who drinks regulaly has tension, issues and is in poor shape physically.

This post from Snoop dog is harsh on poor Gazza but does make the point quite well.

Marijuana is legal in most states. Someone missed the memo.

Most here probably drink alcohol. I haven’t had a sip in 46 years. But I find the double standard hilarious. The bias against marijuana is hypocritical.

I never managed to get what weed is about, it's probably incompatible with my personality.

Most of my friends who smoked a lot for a period of time have very evident problems because of it.

So it always bugs me why it is illegal (where I live and most of the world) given its relatively harmless nature when compared to society's drug of choice, alcohol.

But then it can be grown by anyone in large quantities in their own back garden (or in a green house if u live in a temperate climate) and then consumed in its natural state without any kind of processing or manufacturing process.....

Where's the profit for babylon in that?

    Case closed!

I was hanging out in a friend's backyard just after it was legalized in Oregon. He was tending to some amazing looking plants. The neighbour comes thru the gate to check them out. He's super impressed and wants some tips. I kinda tuned out, but they talked for 20 minutes: fertilizer, how much water and when, mold troubles, how to fix that and so on.

I chuckled about them being just like neighbourhood guys in years past talking about how to make their lawns greener.
Neighbour: "Yeah man...it's all about grass!!"

Hello, I'm new here (at my age being new to anything is a novelty!)
of all the subjects to show up it had to be this...

I read through the comments and see the same old arguments for why this stuff is good and why perhaps not so good for the body/mind etc.

This was unfortunately my "specialist subject" as a psychotherapist working in rehabs, for the police, NHS services and private practice for more years than I wish I had. In this capacity and using my advanced specialist knowledge of the world of drug use, I decline to comment.

As for my own use, no, not even once. When I shattered my leg in a dumb accident I did become partial to the virtues of codeine for a limited period, however it's seductive nature quickly became apparent when the world was OK with me when it really shouldn't have been.

Nevertheless, I still suck at playing guitar just the same.

Look mum, I told you to stop trolling me online. It doesn't do your pusillanimous fantasies any good.
You died a long time ago, don't die here too. I shall be having serious words with you over the Ouija board later.
